Marine Environmental Monitoring (MEM) for the Zawtika Offshore Development Project involves monitoring seawater, seabed sediment quality, plankton, benthic animals, and marine mammals. This program is specifically for the Zawtika Offshore Development Project, Block M9, off the coast of Myanmar.
STS Green Co., Ltd. conducts the marine environmental surveys for the Zawtika project. The surveys cover the production platform ZPQ, two wellhead platforms (WP), and a reference station about 10 kilometers from the project's activities. The survey details are as follows:
Seawater and Sediment Sampling: Monitor environmental quality by assessing the concentration and distribution of chemicals and any significant impacts from operational and drilling activities.
Physical Seawater Measurements: Use a YSI EXO1 Multiparameter instrument to measure temperature, turbidity, pH, dissolved oxygen, and salinity.
Chemical Seawater Sampling: Collect samples with a Teflon-coated Go Flo water sampler using the Clean Hands-Dirty Hands technique to measure chemical characteristics.
Sediment Sampling: Use a Van Veen Grab Sampler to collect samples for physical and chemical analysis of seabed sediments.
Plankton and Benthic Animal Surveys: Monitor potential impacts from operations and drilling on the diversity of phytoplankton, zooplankton, and benthic communities.
Marine Mammal Observations: Record the number and types of marine mammals in the operational area.
