ERM-Siam Co., Ltd. has contracted STS Green Co., Ltd. to conduct a survey of underwater resources in the cable laying area beneath the sea, stretching from the Khanom Power Plant area in Thong Nian, Khanom District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province, to the eastern side of Koh Samui at Chaweng Beach, Bo Phud, Koh Samui District, Surat Thani Province, as part of the initial environmental impact assessment for the underwater cable system development project to supply electricity to the Koh Samui area by the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT).
"STS Green Co., Ltd." surveyed the current conditions and characteristics of the underwater area in the project area. This survey involved the assessment of important resources, such as coral reefs and seagrass, using scuba diving and data collection through the Photo Quadrat Transect method, which records images to provide a clear view of the coverage within the area. The collected data was then analyzed using the Coral Point Count with Excel extensions (CPCe) program.
